Gallagher Smart Fence Volt & Current Meter Instruction Manual
Múnla: G50905
1. Táirge Tharview
The Gallagher Smart Fence Volt & Current Meter is a versatile digital tool designed for efficient fault finding and performance monitoring of electric fences. It combines a voltmeter, current meter, and directional fault finder into one robust device, enabling users to quickly identify and resolve issues on their fence lines.
I measc na bpríomhghnéithe tá:
- Fast, Accurate Fault Location: Detects shorts and indicates the exact direction of the problem, saving time on repairs.
- Dual Measurement: Provides real-time readings for both fence voltage agus amperage on a clear digital screen.
- Comhoiriúnacht Uilíoch: Works with all types of electric fencing, regardless of energizer brand.
- Dearadh Buan: Built with a tough, weather-resistant casing and a backlit LCD for field use.

2. Socrú agus Suiteáil Ceallraí
The Gallagher Smart Fence Volt & Current Meter requires a 3V CR2 battery (included). Follow these steps for installation:
- Aimsigh clúdach urrann na ceallraí ar chúl na feiste.
- Ag baint úsáide as scriúire beag, bain an scriú a dhaingníonn clúdach na ceallraí go cúramach.
- Oscail an urrann ceallraí.
- Insert the 3V CR2 battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Cuir an clúdach ceallraí in ionad agus daingnigh an scriú é.
The package includes the Digital Fault Finder, a detachable earth lead, and the necessary 3V battery.

3. Treoracha Oibriúcháin
The Smart Fence Volt & Current Meter is designed for ease of use in the field. It can measure both voltage and current, and help pinpoint faults.
3.1. Measuring Voltage agus Reatha
To measure fence voltage agus reatha:
- A chinntiú go bhfuil an gléas faoi thiomáint.
- Connect the detachable earth lead to a good ground source (e.g., a ground rod or the fence's ground wire).
- Touch the retractable voltage probe to the fence wire you wish to test.
- The digital display will show both the voltage (kV) and current (A) readings.
Figure 3: The device is portable and easy to use, with a large LCD display showing voltage, current, and direction of flow.
3.2. Lorg Locha
The directional arrows on the display assist in locating faults quickly:
- Begin testing at the energizer or a known good point on the fence.
- Move along the fence line, taking readings at regular intervals.
- If a fault (e.g., a short circuit or significant voltage drop) is detected, the arrows on the display will indicate the direction of the fault.
- Follow the direction indicated by the arrows, continuing to take readings until the fault location is pinpointed. The current reading will typically increase significantly as you approach a short.
Figure 4: The retractable voltage probe allows for checking hard-to-reach places, aiding in quick fault diagnosis.
4. Cothabháil
To ensure the longevity and accurate performance of your Gallagher Smart Fence Volt & Current Meter, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Glanadh: Wipe an gléas le adamp éadach chun salachar agus smionagar a bhaint. Ná húsáid glantóirí scríobacha ná tuaslagóirí.
- Stóráil: Store the meter in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid extreme temperatures.
- Athsholáthar Ceallra: The device is designed for long battery life (up to 3 years). Replace the 3V CR2 battery when the low battery indicator appears on the display or if readings become inconsistent. Refer to Section 2 for battery installation instructions.
- Marthanacht: The meter features a tough, impact- and water-resistant case, making it suitable for outdoor use. However, avoid submerging the device in water.

5. Fabhtcheartú
| Fadhb | Cúis Féideartha | Réiteach |
|---|---|---|
| No display or device won't turn on. | Ceallraí marbh nó suiteáilte go mícheart. | Check battery polarity. Replace the 3V CR2 battery. |
| Léamha míchruinne nó luaineacha. | Poor ground connection; low battery; interference. | Ensure the earth lead has a solid connection to ground. Replace battery. Move away from other electrical devices. |
| Arrows not indicating fault direction clearly. | Fault is very close; multiple faults; weak fence pulse. | Take readings closer together. Address obvious faults first. Check energizer output. |
| Device not detecting current. | No current flow on fence; device malfunction. | Verify energizer is on and fence is live. Ensure proper contact with fence wire. If problem persists, contact support. |
