3.4 Initial Disk Setup (for new HDDs)
For new hard drives, you may need to initialize, partition, and format them before use. This process varies slightly depending on your operating system.
- Windows: Open Disk Management (right-click 'This PC' -> 'Manage' -> 'Disk Management'). Locate the new disk(s), initialize them (MBR or GPT), create new simple volumes, and format them.
- macOS: Open Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility). Select the new disk(s), erase them (format), and create new partitions if desired.
- Linux: Use tools like `fdisk`, `gparted`, or `mkfs` to partition and format the new disk(s).
Tábhachtach: If you plan to use RAID, configure the RAID mode roimhe initializing or formatting the disks. Refer to Section 5 for RAID configuration.
4. Treoracha Oibriúcháin
4.1 Aistriú Sonraí
Once the enclosure is connected and disks are recognized by your computer, you can transfer files to and from the drives as you would with any other external storage device. The USB 3.0 interface ensures high-speed data transfer.

4.3 Feidhm Uathoibríoch Codlata
To conserve energy and extend the lifespan of your HDDs, the enclosure features an automatic sleep function. If there is no data access for a certain period, the drives will enter a low-power sleep state. They will automatically wake up upon data access.
4.4 Glas Sábháilteachta
Use the provided key to lock the front panel of the enclosure. This prevents accidental removal of hard drives and unauthorized access, enhancing data security.
5. Cumraíocht RAID
The ORICO 9558RU3-BK supports various RAID modes to optimize performance, capacity, or data redundancy. Before configuring RAID, ensure all hard drives are empty or that you have backed up any important data, as RAID setup will erase all data on the drives. For optimal performance and capacity utilization, it is recommended to use hard drives of the same capacity.
5.1 Available RAID Modes
- Gnáth: Each HDD operates independently.
- Mór: Combines all disks into one large volume without redundancy.
- RAID 0 (Striping): Combines disks for maximum speed and capacity, but offers no data redundancy.
- RAID 1 (Scáthán): Duplicates data across two disks for redundancy, reducing usable capacity by half. Requires at least 2 disks.
- RAID 3 (Byte-level striping with dedicated parity): Uses one disk for parity, offering good performance for large sequential reads and writes with data redundancy. Requires at least 3 disks.
- RAID 5 (Block-level striping with distributed parity): Distributes parity information across all disks, offering a balance of performance, capacity, and data redundancy. Requires at least 3 disks.
- RAID 10 (Striping of Mirrors): Combines RAID 0 and RAID 1, offering both performance and redundancy. Requires at least 4 disks.

5.2 How to Configure RAID
RAID configuration is typically done via DIP switches or a dedicated RAID button on the back of the enclosure. Refer to the specific instructions provided with your unit for the exact procedure, as it may involve a combination of switch settings and pressing the RAID button.
- Ensure the enclosure is powered off and disconnected from the computer.
- Set the DIP switches on the back of the enclosure to the desired RAID mode according to the diagram or instructions provided with your product.
- Press and hold the RAID button (usually recessed, requiring a small tool like a paperclip) while powering on the enclosure.
- Continue holding the RAID button until the LED indicators confirm the RAID mode has been successfully set (refer to the product's specific LED behavior for confirmation).
- Release the RAID button.
- Connect the enclosure to your computer. The system will detect the new RAID volume.
- Initialize, partition, and format the new RAID volume using your operating system's disk management tools (as described in Section 3.4).
Rabhadh: Changing RAID modes after data has been written will result in data loss. Always back up your data before making any changes to the RAID configuration.
6. Cothabháil
6.1 Diomailt Teasa
The ORICO 9558RU3-BK is designed with an aluminum alloy casing and an internal cooling fan to ensure optimal heat dissipation. To maintain effective cooling:
- Cinntigh go bhfuil an imfhálú suite i limistéar dea-aeráilte.
